I know there was a centenary test in Australia when Randall scored a century. There have been regular highlights of Randalls performance that day.

I thought i heard mentioned the other day about a one-off centenary test in 1980? Don't remember if myself as the only centenary test I recall was in Australia in 1977 when Derek Randall got a big score.
Yes, I went to the first day of the 1980 Centenary test, from memory, Kim Hughes scored a century (I see Graeme Wood got one as well which, obviously, made no impression on me!). The game wasn’t a patch on the one from three years earlier you mention which finished with exactly the same result as the game it was celebrating - this one fizzled out into a dull, rain affected, draw.

All pace attack chosen for Lords including Josh Tongue

England hope an all-pace attack can utilise a green-tinged Lord's pitch for the second Ashes Test as they look to level the series against Australia.

Thought the selectors would have rotated at least 1 of the Anderson, Broad of Robinson.

Why does every cricket story on BBC sport only ever refer to England until the racism sexism etc story when it's become England and Wales in every report

Australia look a much better balanced side, Stokes’ inability to be more than an occasional bowler means that England really need four seamers plus a specialist spinner, so, at one down in the series, I’d say a batsman had to drop out - don’t get why Wood’s not playing and England’s tail looks quite a long one.

id have dropped Stokes to be honest and brought Foakes in at 7. Unless you can get more overs out of stokes hes really a sitting duck in that team (captaincy aside)

Yes, Stokes is in danger of becoming a Mike Brearley type in that he’s in the side mainly for his captaincy - it’s been a while since he made a significant contribution with the bat.

To avoid accusation of Welsh racism ?

I think the Brearley comparison is harsh.

I expect Stokes to add more centuries before hes done and can still get wickets not fully fit.

Needs runs though and I think they will come.

Stokes has the temperament to open the batting in place of Duckett , perhaps this could be an option?
