What's to stop us signing players on loan with a contract in place to sign them permanently once the embrago ends? Didn't Fulham do that with us and Bobby Reid?

Nothing I should imagine. If a player is happy with a drawn up contract that theoretically kicked in upon the ending of an embargo then I doubt anyone is in position to stop. Sounds like a sensible thing to do really

What’s to stop us? Most likely the players’ clubs and agents.

Bobby Reid joined Fulham on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent transfer, but the deal was completed five months later.

Is it a theoretical way around the embargo?

The EFL embargo rules prevent making any commitment to payments in the future, so unfortunately they thought of this scenario and do not allow it.
