You may not know that Eric once won £2.2m on the national lottery during its inception in the late 1990s. I found the transcript in The South Wales Echo of his interview. Here is a small excerpt:
Interviewer: “So Eric you must be thrilled with your lottery win. Tell us all about it.
Eric Half The Bee (EHTB): “Well I am a but gutted I didn’t win £5m really. It could have been a lot better but lady luck doesn’t want tonsmile on me much”.
Interviewer: “Not much luck? For many this would make them comfortable for life. How can you be so disappointed?”
EHTB: “Well let’s face it. After about ten years of spending it in the chippy, Mc Donalds, Benidorm holidays, visits to Trecco Bay, City season tickets I’ll probably only have about £1.4m left. And the wife will probably divorce me for half of it and I’ll be down to my last 700k. I’ll be doomed”
Interviewer: “700k is still a considerable sum though Eric. Some people have nothing.”
EHTB: “Yeah but with all the stress the City give me, what with my bad back, knees and dodgy hips it’s only a matter of time before I have to cough up for hip operations and knee replacements because the Tories will have slaughtered the NHS by then and it’ll all be private. That’ll probably drain my cash as well. Honestly all this lottery winning malarkee only brings problems and more pain. Honestly it’s not worth it”
Interviewer: “Well Eric. That was a delightful insight into your joy. I’ll know pass you back to Huw who has some
more uplifting news”.
