      I remember going to see his play Leaping Ginger at the Royal Exchange in Manchester in 1977. It was a 'culture' date!

      He did a bit of everything in theatre and TV - a long, full life.

        He also wrote songs in the sixties which were big hit for Joe Brown, Adam Faith, Herman's Hermits and others. Very talented chap.
