RIP Georgie Stevens

Infamous Cardiff parks referee in the 60s/70s/80s. No nonsense ref who applied the laws as he thought they were written. One funny incident over Splott Park when reffing Splott Albion, Charlie Gristock, a hard as nails, knock you out soon as look at you type of full back was kicking lumps out of anything that moved. Anyway George calls over Smithy, the Albion’s captain, and tells him if Charlie continues his reign of terror he’s going to have to send off Kipper Fish (the goalie).
Kipper heard this and confronts George, George just replies “You’ll have to go Kip, Charlie will have me after the game if I send him off”.

I used to work with him at GKN. His nickname was "Loony", well at least it was within his work-circle.

I was a relative youngster at the time of starting at GKN (18) and kept myself to myself in the early years of working there. However, everyone knew and liked him.
