Agree their performance was excellent and, even better, guaranteed a quarter-final place a game early. They could not do it in better style but don't get carried away, Australia were poor.

Huge credit to Gatland for preparing the boys in red but Ireland, South Africa and hosts, France, are streets ahead of Wales at the moment.

Having said that, a semi-final place beckons and when you get that far, you've a chance.

The tournament group stages were extended because of the criticism levied that the smaller nations with weaker squads were getting shafted with short turnarounds where the T1 nations could afford it with their larger squads and favourable scheduling.

Our QF is on the 14.10.23.

It shows how important a coach/manager is in sport, something I've been saying forever.

They can make average players good, and good players outstanding, and combine them all to make them an unbelievable team.
