McIlroy has a right to be annoyed and Cantlay putted superbly on the last three greens, but I'd say his heroics would have counted for nothing if Fitzpatrick and McIlroy had not failed to hit a fairway between them on holes 17 and 18. McIlroy still has flashes when he looks like the player who was going to dominate the game a decade ago, but there's a fallibility about him now that suggests he'll still be a very good player for the rest of his career, but not the truly great one he promised to be - maybe his anger was a bit down to frustration with himself that he buckled slightly when previously he wouldn't have?

A bit harsh on Mcllroy ,he has the best record of any player in this years Ryder Cup . Cantlay played superb on the 16th,17th and 18th last night to nick a point .
There aren't many players I would rather have in my team than Mcllroy.

Yes, I probably was a bit harsh, he’s still number two in the world, but how many golf fans would have believed back in 2014 that he’d still be stuck on four major wins nine years later?

He’s doing the business today though, just gone four up.
