If the crowd had invaded the pitch in anger the players would have outnumbered them. Piss poor crowds over there considering some of the players involved.

Fascinating. Did the referee have a choice? On the one hand, the ref is being stupidly literal. On the other, the player touched the ball in the penalty area.

I think I would have ruled it accidental handball since he clearly intended merely to give the goalkeeper a supportive tap and mistakenly made contact with the ball.

Don’t think the ref had much choice really, it was a bit of a daft thing to do.
