  • Poaching Managers

    No, not a cooking thread.

Plymouth had their manager Ryan Lowe poached by Preston a few years ago, Schumacher was his assistant and he as given the job after Lowe left, and now Schumacher has been poached too.

It must be very frustrating for their fans.

Our neighbours to the west have had to deal with this before a few times I seem to recall.

In my 25 + years supporting it’s never happened to us.

Has it ever happened in our history?

Fairly certain Swansea have had four managers taken by other clubs in the past 15/20 years.

    Martinez - Wigan
    Rodgers - Liverpool
    Potter - Brighton
    Martin - Southampton

Appointing crap managers has a silver lining!

This is a depressingly frequent topic on here, as it just highlights the largely dreadful and uninspiring managerial appointments that the club has made over the last 40 odd years.

The last manager we had poached was Len Ashurst when he left for Sunderland back in……1984. And he only spent a season there.

            That went well didn’t it.

Not sure Stoke is a club I’d leave Plymouth for - it’s a managerial graveyard.

Probably on a fair amount more. Bigger club. Lot closer to home.

Plus Nathan Jones got a Premier league gig after his brief Stoke visit.

We have more of a frying pan environment here so poaching is never going to happen

Apart from Jones, McKay, Solskjær, Slade, Morrison, Warnock, Harris, McCarthy as managers
                    And even more as coaches
