    Like what?

That she's married to a BBC Director?

Now if she had won it that would be totally different, she was the best tennis player in the World for what seems like a lifetime and is famous. (lifetime award type as she's not British)

It doesn't matter that she couldn't beat the men she was dominant almost unbeatable, in a sport that women have been playing at a high standard for decades.

My post was not anti-women, it was just this award was daft, as she plays a team sport and is not famous or outstanding enough to have won it IMO.

And yet it's two in a row for women's footballers...

They also had by far the biggest viewing figures of any of the sports listed

The ashes averages 878,000 viewers per day

The women's world cup final had more than 14 million viewers

In reality I care little about such awards, but to me she seemed as good as any of the other nominees and her influence on young girls to take up and play football is significant.

I really can't understand why people are so angry about it, it's very odd behaviour.

Whatever your thoughts are on the winner, it was a case of a public vote to engage the public in respect of a TV programme.
It's like being annoyed as to who won the X Factor.

That you think it’s relevant. It takes a certain type of mind to imagine that some connection to the BBC invalidates everything she wrote.

You proving her point for her.

What so if Peter Ridsdale's wife, said he did a brilliant job and saved the club, and did the early tickets to benefit us, you would say brilliant thanks for that what a great guy that Peter is

Or would you have a distrusting mind, because she's not impartial?

Agreed I'm typing with a smile at how angry they are getting :xmashehe:

Agreed it's not a proper award anymore, they've changed the format and it's just like a celebrity jungle-type show nowadays with some celebrity's that we've never heard of

                          Women’s Euros and WC.

Try to get it right, if you want to attempt to gain any credibility here.

So 25m viewers for The Ashes then. Twice as many as the final.

                            Great argument.

Do you think a different 878,000 watch the Ashes every day?

She not saying what a great job her husband did, I don’t think he’s mentioned is he? What she is saying is that a bunch of sad, mainly old, men appear to have a problem with a woman footballer being elected as Sports Personality of the Year and they struggle to explain why that should be when asked to do so.
