  • Shocking scoring statistic

When we beat Preston 2-1 at Deepdale, we'd scored a very healthy 27 goals from our opening 17 fixtures. We'd beaten a top 6 side away from home and were 1 point behind Preston in 7th.

Since that game, here's a list of the lowest goalscorers across all 4 divisions:

Forest Green - 18 goals in 22 games (0.82 per game)
Millwall - 18 goals in 22 games (0.82 per game)
Burton - 16 goals in 22 games (0.73 per game)
Cardiff - 16 goals in 22 games (0.73 per game)
Rotherham - 14 goals in 22 games (0.64 per game)

Only relegated Rotherham have scored fewer goals than us since the end of November. Our scoring rate was 1.59 goals a game. That has since been more than halved.

Despite such a lack of goals we've managed 26 points in those 22 games. 13 is the lowest number of goals we've scored over 22 successive league games.

Good job it’s based on points, but it’s a valid point. We have been off it for some time tho.

It paints a numerical picture of what's been on offer. Just looking at the table shouldn't be more exciting than looking at the football played. Or, I guess, I could just look at the table and skip the ST and other stuff. Fantasy fan football style. Watching us today was horrible.

Absolutely, which is why I mentioned it. Given how poor we've been in front of goal, it's quite a surprise that we've won as many points as we have.

Defensively we've conceded 33 goals in those 22 games, so it's hardly as if our more defensive approach has helped in that regard. We've kept 5 clean sheets in those 22 games and conceded 1 on 6 occasions. Half of those 22 games has seen us concede 2 or more and, while our 8 wins have been by a solitary goal, 10 of our 12 defeats have been by 2 goals or more.

I agree but also not sure any of the current lot would get many more goals elsewhere.
