The Southampton game wasn’t, I would’ve swapped the beach for the last half hour but the Middlesbrough game the beach was much more preferable

When I stopped attending games in 2012 it was strange to begin with, but I found I was very quickly out of the habit. Within a few months it had reached the stage where I was often scarcely giving the games a second thought on match days and there were some midweeks when I didn’t even know games had taken place until after they had finished.

Very different circumstances of course, and it would have been different if I was missing the odd game here and there while knowing I’d be at the next one, but the rebrand taught me how easily and quickly you can find other things to do if you decide to stop going to games for any reason.

Considering supporting City had been such a huge part of my life for 38 years at that stage, it was quite a surprise.

I know where you’re coming from , I find it fairly boring at times but I go for reasons other than the actual game.

I tend to make a day of it , but it’s no different to years ago when many would have the intention of going to the games only to stay in the kings.

The season tickets are such good value that I usually miss the night games as my lad is too young for them and there is plenty of tv coverage sat in the warm at home.

The gate money is only about 20% of the club’s current income so the current figure is better than expected when you factor in the disruption to kick off times next season.

In my experience, I doubt too many people have factored in the kick off time disruption or extra TV games just yet. I’m not sure if many fans know the details (and that includes me).

I reckon that will have more of an effect next season, especially if 2024/25 proves to be another mid-table campaign or worse.

The new EFL tv deal has been published and I think there are significantly more live games Friday through to Monday and there is no more I- follow

Yeah, but our lot had a brief chat about it in the pub before the last home game and nobody seemed to know much about it, so I doubt it will have had any great effect on season ticket sales for 2024/25.

If it proves a pain in the arse, as it probably will, then I reckon it will be 2025/26 when it has a significant effect.

                  Re: Season ticket sales

Sell another ~1000 in the next month and they’re selling at about the same pace as last season.

                  Sounds about right.

For most I know it’s a social thing, meeting up with people etc….like some have alluded too. Imagine how many we could sell if we actually had a decent team in a well run club? 35 years and waiting…..

Exactly this - my son particularly this season, as he has seen more than me, has been really down about the team and it's performance but when I asked him if he wanted to renew his response was an instant yes

Other people in my family who don't have the "habit" can't understand how we do it to ourselves every season but we do and there is obviously at the moment about 10k other liked minded people ( that's scary if you multiply that by every other club who have fans having the same conversation with the same mentality 😂😂)

Our club motto should be "why do we do it" 😂😂

Or will you blank it altogether? Or, which could turn out to be more expensive in the long run, will you pick and choose games and pay on the day?

I’ve had 3 years of season tickets over the last 10-12 seasons, with 3 young children it can be difficult, especially in the colder months! I’d never blank the club and yes I do a lot of checking of the phone when I’m not at the games to be fair! The years I haven’t had season tickets, we pick and choose, some days with the kids, some days as a couple as it’s a decent day out! But depending on who is manager, and what players come in will determine how we decide to do it this year!

Last year, the board seemed very excited with the signing of bulut and the players they had lined up, so with this we purchased straight away. I would say I’m happy with the progress this season and hoping bulut stays with funds available to build on what he started as the few year before bulut have been very frustrating!

                          Re: Season ticket sales

we renewed last year, but I’m not sure if we will again.
Eventually gave up on night games with the youngest, zombied him too much which also meant the Mrs didn’t come to those.
Missed several others due to other plans.. kids parties, or the odd day out planned, gave tickets to other poor souls.
Eldests football made 1230 kick offs tight to say the least
Think will be better for us to buy individual tickets to say 50% of the games and go the odd away.
It’s not like there’s a shortage of tickets

Anybody know if the club communicate (don't all laugh at once) as to why people don't renew?

Maybe something the fans forum can pick up ??

I get loads of emails re tickets even though I'm a season ticket holder so they obviously do global emails shots not sure if they ever disect the data at all and do targeted campaigns or Comms ??

I would say the biggest reason for people not renewing is a simple one - because the football is crap. I don't mean just now, I mean at any time. If the football is poor, and hard to watch, people don't bother. Okay, people also tend to drop out when we get relegated, but that's usually because...you guessed it...the football is crap. Some people quit on a principal (like the red shirts), but not that many, I'd say. Nope, if you want to lose your fans, play crap football. And here we are.
