Isn't Celtic winning every contest they entered including the European Cup in 1967 with a bunch of blokes from within a 50 (or less - can't be arsed looking up) mile radius of Glasgow a little more impressive?

Meanwhile, Aston Villa were bringing the curtain down on England’s least successful season in Europe in ages. The Premier League has been exciting this year, but maybe it’s because there has been a levelling down of standards?

German domestic football is looking strong at the moment with a team in the Champions League Final, the team which beat Arsenal in that competition and Leverkusen’s tremendous form.

Most of the pundits I've seen are saying England or France to win it, but then Germany and Portugal seem to be the main possibilities if you go outside the two favourites.

Maybe, didn't think of that to be honest, a very fair shout indeed. Wasn't invincible though, which for me is the big draw to this potential achievement.

Doesn't a 50 mile radius from Glasgow cover basically 90% of the population of Scotland?

Doesn't a 50 mile radius from Glasgow cover basically 90% of the population of Scotland?

All but two members of the 15 man squad were born within 10 miles of Celtic Park in Glasgow, Scotland (Bobby Lennox, who was born 30 miles away in Saltcoats, and Tommy Gemmell, who was born in Motherwell 11 miles away). Celtic's style was the antithesis of the cynical – but highly effective – defensive style of Inter. Jimmy Johnstone described the team's style as "like the Dutch speeded-up"

Crazy the amount of late goals they’ve scored this last month or so to keep the unbeaten record going.

Scored two in injury time including 97th minute against Qarabag in an earlier round

97th min equaliser against Dortmund a few weeks ago even though they had already won the league.

Even last night still kept going for the equaliser on the night instead of wasting time as they were ahead on aggregate anyway. Really refreshing to see.

I’ve really enjoyed watching them this season. Not difficult to see why Alonso is in demand with the elite European clubs.

Really like that Wurtz too and looking forward to seeing what he can do on the big stage this summer.

Must have an impact on their opponents mentally as well, it almost feels inevitable that Leverkusen will score against you

I'm in Munich for the opening game, would be great if the hosts can turn up and I'm sure Wirtz (and Musiala etc) will be vital for that

They have a good squad but I imagine their odds are being hampered by their recent tournament failures.

I think Germans tend to be underrated as well as they rarely play in the UK. Outside of Werner, Harvetz & Gross I can't think of many Germans in the PL
