I see Purse gets a lot of criticism for U21 results.

But his main job has to be to produce players for the 1st team. There look to be a few now breaking through. What are the opinions of those who watch the academy on Purse and the under 21 set up.?

Results are nice but it’s all about producing good talent to come through.

At that age results are irrelevant its about developing the players in the hope 1 or 2 will make the first team. Unfortunately for us its 1 or 2 per decade not 1 or 2 per age group.

Even the PL 2 while being points based, only leads to a knock-out cop of the top 16 teams

player dev must be the highest reward
