I didnt know the Monmouth bridge's were called these. Only realised when there was an article about road works.

Why called Gibraltar?

I believe it relates more to the tunnels through the large “cliff face”, which was likened to the rock of Gibraltar.

Why called Gibraltar?

It’s the tunnels not the bridges. They pass through Gibraltar Hill (which has Gibraltar House on top)
