  • Champions League.

Strange that, on a day when there were two threads on a Cardiff v Swansea rugby match, there wasn’t one for the Champions League Final. I know that the game was harder for everyone to watch than it has been in the past few years because it was basically a case of access to what I still call BT Sport or nothing, but it’s still surprising that no one bothered starting a thread on the match.

For myself, I’ve never been that enamoured with the Champions League, as opposed to the old European Cup, and it used to be that I’d only started watching it in the knock out stages, but I’ve not even done that this time around. I had last night’s game on in the background for about an hour, but actually watched very little of it and had switched to something else before the goals were scored.

I’ve mentioned before that late in my life I seem to be going off football somewhat, so I’m not altogether surprised that I had so little interest in last night’s game, but is the lack of discussion on here about it a sign that it’s not just me who can’t get interested in the Champions League and that the competition is perhaps at the beginnings of something of a crisis?

I watched it intermittently on my pc while I was doing some work but when Real Madrid scored, I knocked it off. I've not had that much interest in the Premier League this season, either, apart from seeing if someone other than Man City might win it. Relegation was a done thing quite early on, Villa surprised a few but there wasn't that much other than "same old" to get interested in. I even watched the Scottish cup final last week on BBC iPlayer instead of the Manc derby at Wembley.

Personally I still enjoy it and think I watched matches from most rounds. Actually went to my first champions league game earlier in the tournament - arsenal v Porto - and the atmosphere was excellent. Missed last night as I’m away in west wales and it wasn’t on in the local pub! Was following it in the bbc news updates though - and was a bit surprised - like you - that it wasn’t being commented on on here.

For me it's more a feeling that Real are inevitable... I had it on in the background but not really paying much attention, even if Dortmund had taken their two first half chances (and the post would have come back for offside anyway), you knew that Real would weather the storm until about 60-65 minutes, wait for Dortmund to run themselves into the ground and come back and do whatever they needed to get it to extra time or win. Which was exactly what ended up happening.

I am pretty much footballed out, I usually watch 3 or 4 games a week sometimes more .
It was pretty much inevitable as LA Bluebird just said .
I did flick over the channel for 5 minutes, couldn't get into it ,watched the French open tennis instead.

In fairness, the Championship season ended on 4th May and the Premier League season ended on 19th May. As you say, the game was on TNT and, most importantly, there was no English team involved. I'm not surprised there was no significant interest on here. To be honest, I didn't attempt to watch the game and didn't even check the result until I was about to go to bed.

Anyway, the usual suspects on this board are too busy squabbling about Donald Trump while demonstrating their in-depth knowledge of the American political and legal systems to talk about anything football-related.

I enjoyed the game actually, was a good watch for a big final. These games can be a bit cagey but last night’s was a much more open affair. Haven’t watched a lot of the Champions League this year, but I do enjoy the nights where they show multiple games with James Richardson and his panel.

I enjoyed the game last night. Thought it was a good advert for the tournament.
I don't watch a great deal of it, maybe just the odd 2nd leg game from the Quarters onwards and the final. Dortmund had their chances and, not for the first time, shows that if you don't take your chances against Real Madrid then you'll get punished.
