Re: Does anyone know anything about baby car seats?
Go cheap as they end up an awful mess and they can cost small fortune , the more you spend the more complicated they become , and time consuming if your in a rush , you may need to study a degree on how to affix some of the stupidly priced ones ..
The cheap or expensive ones all adhere to set UK safety standards
THese links may help

Re: Does anyone know anything about baby car seats?
What you will start out with is not a car seat per se. It's a portable baby carrier that locks into a base on your back seat. I think you can get a base with wheels on it too so you can use the baby carrier as a stroller. I'm not sure. It's been a while.

Tell the lazy ****er to walk, he's bug enough now.Originally posted by Eddie Johnson View PostYou'll need some sort of 'travel system' for the first few months, think car seat come pram. Then you'll need countless pushchairs etc. Welcome to the world of being skint, my youngest is 10 now and still no end in sight!

That’s the easy part….:hehe:Originally posted by WJ99mobile View PostWe’re due in late August and I’m a bit confused what I should be looking for?
Just get a car seat you can easily fit on top of your pram (baby jogger city mini are good, fold easily etc…) I wouldn’t go cheap on this item as you want convenience at all costs

I'm happy to pop round and sort it out. I made my own and people used to point at it, probably because it looked so professional

No having to put up with a baby screaming in the car, or the unpleasant odor of vomit - sorted! :hehe:Originally posted by fingers View PostI'm happy to pop round and sort it out. I made my own and people used to point at it, probably because it looked so professional

are you not 60 plus like the majority in here ? ? ?Originally posted by WJ99mobile View PostWe’re due in late August and I’m a bit confused what I should be looking for?
on a serious note
does your car have ISOFIX seats in the rear, if they do, that makes it loads easier to fit and remove the baby car seat ( 1st one will be rear facing )
something like this, with the pushchair etc etc
if you wanted to go separates, then get a stage 1 - 3 seat, it'll do the baby right up to 3-4 years old
something like this
Halfords can be very decent, get the right member of staff and they will show you how its fitted and any hints and tips

Re: Does anyone know anything about baby car seats?
I’m a massive anxietybag. I did loads of research. The safest one is the Cybex Anoris. It has an airbag which supports the spine and neck in the event of a crash.
Its more expensive than bog standard seats but its good till they are 7 or 8 , so ye …..works out a lot cheaper than the phone you have in your pocket , for example.
I wouldn’t skimp on that particular item.
