I do see the similarity, even a lot of subs on late and a very late goal, as pointed out England is different in that they have some top players, they should be doing a lot better.Originally posted by BLUEAWAY TOO View PostGood players producing dreadful lack lustre tactical performances. I don't rate Southgate and the football is terrible, but they are in the quarters with a much better squad than the Swiss!

Very lucky to get through that.
You couldn't really argue against some of their players been world class, Kane, Bellingham especially but is most of their squad quite overrated? Good players absolutely. Many I was looking forward to seeing have been really underwhelming.
The two Spain wingers last night just looked levels above anything i've seen from England, that Bellingham goal apart.
To be fair they seem likely to get deep into the tournament again, mostly playing fairly limited stuff (relative to their squad) so are doing something right.
Southgate bringing Toney on in injury time when about to go out is baffling though . Just can't get my head around why you would leave a striker that you want to bring on at some point on the bench until the last few minutes. Maybe he's an actual genius.

I know it won't be popular but I think the England squad and players on the park should walk this tournament. Southgate could yet win it for them and get a f*cking knighthood....now that would be the part I'd hate most.
I think a lot of posters who moan about England forget they don't moan when Cardiff or Wales win by a goal after a coma-inducing display. Them's the rules. Final score. What's good for the goose....
