I think the stats will need to show a significant reduction in serious injuries and deaths before that happens. A negligible difference will only convince many that it has been a waste of time.

Just because you promise not to increase existing taxes it doesn't mean you can't invent new ones.

Surcharge on vehicle camera pelanties. That would raise a few quid in Wales alone.
Tax on attending church/synagogue/chapel Decreasing returns.
I'm sure people could think of others.

Sugar Tax is just the sweetener for many forthcoming sticky taxes .

Looking about our fair city it is very visable that sugar consumption is at epidemic levels , andĥ
.. possibly out of control, with folk injecting it on and in street corner sweet shops .
