  • Callum Robinson

Appears to be the form player of pre season.

Would be interested to see if this form could be “fattening” him up to sell him over next month or whether her could be the 10 plus goal a season forward in the championship he has been previously.

I hope he's the striker we are looking for

He's not a 30 goals a year player but that sort are like gold dust

It's surely going to be his last chance at this level

It would be great if he can play his way back into the team, not sure he can sustain it though.

Best finisher and best football brain of all of our strikers. He's not a target man so probably won't get much of a look in.w

Yes he doesn't seem to suit us, sometimes he makes a move or pass and the other players don't react or anticipate what he is going to do, they don't seem on the same wavelength at all and he and they get frustrated.

Sadly he is too good a player for us , love to see us build around his skills .

If Bulut has managed to get Robinson playing well again; looking happy; and contributing to the team - as seems to be the case from the limited pre-season evidence - than he deserves real credit.

They fell out last season and Robinson downed tools. But he is far too good a player for any of us to want to see him gone if there is a possibility of getting him firing again. From the interviews and training clips he appears to have his mojo back.

I will leave the analysis of whether he can perform as a No 9 to those who know and understand more than me. But he seemed to be in the No 9 role v Hertha. He has been good in the past as a No 10. I think he is wasted (as is Colwill) as a wide forward (he is not a winger). But with not much to go on, the signs so far are positive.

Good post. He's a good player. I don't think that he's an out and out striker, he does good work by coming inside from wide positions, he can struggle a bit in a central role, he's a better player (in my opinion) when the game is in front of him, like Eric said, he's got a brain and a fair bit of sharpness in tight areas.

I thought that he was a lost cause, without ever being too critical of his ability. If he's levelled thing out with Bulut, then that's a real positive for us. Last season we only had Colwill showing any real form in that creative area, and I wouldn't say he was outstanding really. Robinson, Ramsey and Turnbull didn't really contribute a great deal. Hopefully we have some options now.

Any player who downs tools isn't a team player. He plays when he wants.
Chelsea had a season where everyone accept Willian seemed to down tools...Hazard included.
It's a disgrace , and I personally would get rid ASAP.

I think you make a fair point. They are paid handsomely and yet so easily go into a sulk.
Robinson was anonymous whenever he took to the field last season. His performances were lackadaisical, his attitude wasn't correct.
There's no way he could put his hand on heart and say "I gave my best". He cheated the fans.

Nail on the head, big time Charlie who is probably only performing to get a new contract somewhere else

Does it matter what his motives are? If he performs for us then it makes no difference. And we don't completely know what happened with him last season, if it had been Ramsey then we'd sae a lot more sympathy and speculation in his favour.

He's not a target man per se, but can play up top. Along with others around me at matches last season we really couldn't understand why Bulut didn't play him. Despite comments about his work-rate and attitude, I never saw that as in doubt. True, some of his passes didn't find a City player but that was more down to a complete lack of movement and anticipation from others..

                            Re: Callum Robinson

I’ll be honest, maybe I was getting so bored by Bulut Ball that I missed the signs, but I genuinely didn’t regard Robinson as having downed tools last season. He was, though, obviously struggling with the manager on a personal level and with the system the manager wanted to play.

He also had fitness problems and appeared to be lacking in confidence, but he still looked one of the few City players who could make something happen in the final third whenever he was on the field.

I’ll be surprised if it works out for Robinson under Bulut and it will probably be best for all concerned if he moves on, but he’s definitely one of the most talented players in the current squad and he could be an significant asset with a change of system.

I'd agree with all of this. Kieffer Moore downed tools, Robinson looked like he'd had enough, everything was 'off' with him.
