That's not even close to being true.

Fiction. Didn’t look like a foul at the time, and I had a clear view from my seat in the middle of the Ninian Stand. I’ve watched the highlights three times today. Colwill wasn’t pulled around the neck or fouled in any other manner.

I thought it may have been a foul at the time (it wasn’t) but he was too slow to get the ball forward. I don’t want to single him out though, he should have started.

If he isn’t going to get a decent run in the side (and I don’t think he will under this manager), he needs to go out on loan and get games somewhere. Colwill’s situation is just getting silly. He has plenty of natural ability but little football intelligence and he’s not going to gain any unless he starts playing regularly.

We’re at risk of seeing what could be a promising career fizzle out. He’s 22 now, not a 17 year-old. He needs to be playing.

City provided the biggest representation in the first Wales squad to reach an Euros age group Finals in 42 years I think it was It was at under 17 level, so it would seem like the current 17 to 18 year olds are the most promising group we’ve had coming through for some time. From that group, Luey Giles and Josh Beecher have already played for the first team, Dylan Lawlor has been an unused sub and there are others like Ronan Kpakio, who’s a year younger, who could well be involved in the midweek cup match.

However, based on the evidence of a decade or more, you can’t help thinking that City will find a way to mess up the development of a group of players who should net us a lot of money in the transfer market, provide the club with many years of first team service or maybe even both.

As for Colwill, he’s been a bit hit or miss so far this season, but I think he feels he has to do something eye catching as soon as he comes on. I say when he comes on, because I wonder if he’ll ever be a regular starter under this manager and yet, when you look at how the team has gone since Bulut took over and what Colwill has done when he’s been given a chance, you have to think that, while he’s not perfect by any means, he should be starting in a team that finds chance creation so hard.

It was poor of Colwill to lose the ball. But Sunderland still had plenty of work to do but Clarke was too good for Ng and Siopis.

However we were 1 nil down with minutes to go and the rest of the midfield and defence were slowly passing backwards and sideways between themselves for minutes. Total shit gutless boring football. You could swear we were 4 up.

Colwill tried to drive us forward and was looking to actually be positive. He's worth watching.

However no Ashford or Conte yesterday either. If I was these young players I'd be getting my agent to get me away from the club.

Having seen the highlights of Portsmouth yesterday young Robertson has made a bad decision.

Bob, who do you think the club have screwed up over the past Ten years in terms of development? It's a serious question because i haven't got a clue about young players coming through. And i agree with the jist of your post, although Colwill is in good company as he doesn't create chances either.

Siopis was more interested in grizzling to the ref than getting a challenge in. I didn’t spot that at the time but it’s noticeable on the replays.

Who do you think would make solid offers for Ashford and Conte, another Championship club? And what would the offer be based on?

I'm thinking loans. I'm suprised Joel Colwill has ended up I'm L2. Watching us against Bristol Rovers I think all 3 could play in L1 and get game time.

I'd just want away and actually play.

I reckon that it's a great move for J colwill. He can concentrate on playing (and enjoy it) without the pressure of the fans who think that any young player who shows an ounce of ability is the 2nd coming. I hope he has a great time at Cheltenham.

He’s started well enough. Two goals on his debut. Meanwhile, his brother…

Players with ability shackled and told how to play at Cardiff.

It was poor yesterday, and some big players making mistakes, a week for Bulut to work on some stuff to make an improvement.

Apart from the terrible marking, except for the start and end we were far to slow getting the ball forward and it was far to easy for them to set up their rows of defensive lines which we hardly looked like beating.
