We don't! The problem isn't the forwards. It's the lack of service. We need midfielders and ones with energy and pace. A striker is not going to fix our problems.

Well yes, there are limited chances, that's why you need one with as high a shot-to-goal percentage as possible.Originally posted by Bald Barry Bastad View PostWe don't! Re: Everyone saying we need strikers
That's a fair shout in my opinion, Although I don't think that our strikers are great, they're never really presented with an opportunity to score from three yards out, thus breeding a bit of confidence. We have little creativity in midfield, nobody who can break lines, beat a player, move the ball quickly, show urgency and pace on the ball. Maybe this lad from Man City can show us something we don't have at the moment.Originally posted by Bald Barry Bastad View PostWe don't! The problem isn't the forwards. It's the lack of service. Thing is, I suppose it's difficult finding a player with the attributes mentioned, but then there's another way, it's called moving the ball quickly. Swansea were very good at playing this way during their successful years. It means that players don't have to waltz past the opposition, the quick passing and movement does the work. Bulut likes to play in front of teams, get the ball wide and stretch them in order to win games, he isn't particularly interested in playing through the middle, maybe he seems it a risk, maybe he believes that space opens up and the opposition tire quicker. Whatever it is, it isn't working, and for it to work, wide players need to be on it as do the players supporting them, and the service has to be very good.

And there you have it.
Whenever we do manage to move forward, it's usually with one of our players trying to take too many touches. Let the ball do the work.
Although it's easier said than done when you don't have many players who can pick a pass quickly.

Re: Everyone saying we need strikers
It's a risky style of play I suppose, the quicker the ball moves the quicker the players have to move, thus leaving spaces for the opposition to exploit. Recovery has to be quick as well. It's really about committing players forward at crucial moments. There's no way Bulut is going to play that way. I don't think that the majority of us would mind that much about the way he plays now, if it was carried out with more intent and belief, let's face it, City fans are( including myself) are hardly puritans of the game, we have never been that way. It's just so mind numbingly boring and predictable. It's like watching a boxer who isn't prepared to throw a combination, just dance around the ring and jab his or her way to victory, and only shows a bit of urgency after they're floored.Originally posted by Rock_Flock_of_Five View Post"... it's called moving the ball quickly".

el Ghazi canOriginally posted by A Quiet Monkfish View PostTeams that do well nearly always have players who can score goals from midfield. Apart from Ng, I don't think we have anyone who can strike a ball well from outside the box..
Ramsey
Ralls
Colwill can hit it pretty hard these days, think he'll get a long one on before long

Re: Everyone saying we need strikers
We need better players all over the pitch.
What we need as a priority I'm not sure. But conceding 5 from 4 shots against a side not playing well suggests we need to get the defence sorted.
But there again we can't score either and not very good at creating either.
Oh and the keeper let's in backpasses.🤣
