  • Any grounds for optimism?

Last 39 games in all competitions (since we beat Bristol City 2-0):

22 defeats. That's not our worst run ever, but we've only had a worse number of defeats than that over a 39 game spell 9 times in our history. We lost 22 in 39 games under McCarthy and Morison.

73 goals conceded. That's close to 2 a game. Shocking. It's our worst defensive run since the end of the 1960s, not including the two seasons spent in the Premier League.

36 goals scored. Less than 1 a game. Our worst came in 1988/89-89/90 with 29 goals scored in 39 games and only 8 times have we scored fewer than 36 goals in 39 games.

After a positive start to last season, and the potential shown by some of our younger players in particular, are these figures (which are close to a full season) really those of a side looking to progress?

My optimism is based on its best to get any bad run out of the way now as there are forty-two games still to be played and no-one is relegated or promoted at the end of August.

But there needs to be a quick turnaround and if not, Bulut must be gone sooner rather than later

Hopefully keep a clean sheet as well. Would be a confidence booster before going to Derby.

Are you right with that stat? We were damn good side at the end of the 60s under Jimmy Scoular.

Unless we get rid of Bulut we are going down, and going down as the bottom side. Dyche isn't going last much longer at Everton. When he gets the sack we should snap him up!

Tan has never been shy about sacking a manager, and I think we've got some decent players in the squad if we can play a system that isn't nonsense?

This - I think we have some decent players who might thrive in a different more attacking system under a new manager

Another positive is that we haven't lost any points from winning positions.

Mindfulness We need more of this. It's uplifting.
