Very sad, always enjoyed watching him play.

Incredibly sad at such an early age. He was the face of the 1990 WC, and didn't he score against Ireland? Not sure what he did afterwards should have been a superstar, but I don't remember much about him

Italia 90 was definitely the pinnacle for him. He forced his way into the Italy team with one prolific Serie A season but didn't score as many as fans expected after that. He only scored once more for Italy too after the 6 that gave him the world cup golden boot. A strange career.
Sad to hear the news though.

Was it him who had just got out of jail beforehand or am I confusing him with someone else? I’ll always remember his wide eye look after scoring….he made that World Cup.

Apparently Rossi wasn't in jail , just suspended from playing for two years prior to the World Cup. Some Italian media made up the story to embellish his remarkable comeback.

              RIP Toto

That was Rossi in the 1982 world cup. He'd been banned the season before then got picked for the squad. Italy were awful in the group stages, drawing all 3 games. Rossi played in the knock out stages and won the tournament. Scillaci was a relatively untried and unknown when he was picked in 1990.
Both are responsible for some of the most memorable moments of those 2 world cups.

Ah yes of course. I recall now you've both jogged the memory

                  Goal poachers Rossi and Schillaci.
Oh for one of them right now at CCS!
