  • Sol Bamba commemorations this weekend

The FAB (Fan Advisory Board) have issued the following statement outlining the events to commemorate Sol Bamba over the upcoming weekend;-

"On Friday Evening there is a charity evening “An Evening For Sol” with former players, to offer a special Q&A with the fans, in memory of Sol. This will be held at CCS, so far 150 tickets have been sold. All monies raised will go towards the Lymphoma Action charity at the request of Sol’s family. The Club will match the income generated from proceeds of the evening.

The fan groups and fans have contributed to a Go Fund Me Page to raise monies towards a large flag. £4,547.00 was raised and after GFM charges we were given £4,330.69. The monies are controlled by a Bereavement and Ex-Players Focus Group and consist of only fans, not the club.

We have secured a deal, through Cardiff City, with Morgan Consulting for a flag (shown above) of Sol Bamba to be ready for the Leeds Game this Saturday. The flag is 30m x 6.5m.

The intention is that the Bamba flag will be held up in the Canton stand by the fans and some stewards. Once the referee blows his whistle at the end of the minute, the flag will then be moved to the Ninian stand by the Ground staff and then taken up to the Ninian Upper stand ( L5) where it will be sited during the game.

It has been confirmed that 8 players and Neil Warnock will be attending the game.

The Club has made T-shirts for the player to warm up and it was determined that the number 14 shirt would be used because that is the number he wore predominantly and was the number he wore during the promotion season (before he gave it up for Bobby Reid). Therefore, the big screen picture will be shown on the 14th Minute and
would expect the fans to use this as the starter for any applause.

The club and supporter groups will promote a fan led campaign to get fans into their seats by 2:45pm and wear “BLUE FOR BAMBA”.

For Level 3 Hospitality areas football shirts will be allowed for this game."

150 tickets for tonight seems pretty poor and all a bit rushed. Wonder if would have been better to do it in the international break once it it less raw and pack the place out.

I think 150 is a good turnout. Well done to those attending.
