  • The 14th minute…

I thought it was very odd that City’s staff and substitutes didn’t join in with the applause for Sol Bamba on the 14th minute. Leeds’ staff and subs all rose off their bench and took part in the tribute, but our lot didn’t bother. Couldn’t understand that at all.

Another thing I noticed yesterday was the difference in the reactions from the two benches when Will Fish was down receiving treatment during a lengthy stoppage in play. The Leeds coaching staff got three balls onto the pitch to keep their players active during the break. Meanwhile, City’s players stood around doing nothing.

The 14th minute thing has been mentioned in another thread. The photo doesn't look good.

The football thing not so much. We can't pass 1 ball let alone have 3 on the pitch.

I find it a bit odd that the players asnd staff on the bench were expected to stand up and clap on the 14th minute, there was a game going on, what if someone had scored in that minute, that would have looked a bit strange. Was the game stopped, or did the players on both sides take their foot off the gas in order to make sure that nothing really happened during that minute? It does sound odd, but i suppose it was more for the supporters to show their respect.

In my opinion, it’s a new low for him.

You wouldn’t expect the staff to do the same as the crowd. Lots of things wrong but this is making something out of nothing.

I’m not sure if they were expected to join in as such, but the Leeds bench did and City’s didn’t. It wasn’t a good look.

Fair enough. Lots of negative comments about it on social media from what I’ve seen. I just thought it looked strange.

Its doing the rounds though. My partner had a video sent to her from a non Cardiff City supporter .

There is a time and a place , Leeds were attacking (as usual) at the time , he is desperately trying to hang onto his job.

Are you sure Leeds bench wasn't stood applauding the excellent start they had to the game and the 95% possession they were having?

Yeah, it's awkward jim. I think that if there had been an agreement between the clubs that the 14th minute would see the ball passed sideways in the centre of the pitch for the minute so that there was no drama, and everyone could concentrate om respecting Sol, then fair enough. That would have been difficult though. I don't think that Bulut intentionally went out of his way to piss people off.

Would it have got a mention if, say, we were sixth in the table? I think it would have, but there wouldn’t be much fuss made out of it and there would have been some sort of apologetic message sent out which would put an end to any negative reaction from supporters.

No but it was pretty thoughtless.
