  • Manager Recruitment Process

I know it won't happen, but if there was a senior player and a representative of the Fans Advisory Board involved in drawing up a short list and then sitting on the interview panel would we end up with a better manager than if it is left to Tan, Dalman and Choo?
If so, who would be appointed?

According to a report I read from News Now, Dalman will be taking a “back seat” in the recruitment process after the failure of his man, Erol Bulut. The report says Choo is going to play a more significant part in the choosing of the new manager and Vincent Tan favours a younger, more attacking appointment.

So what qualities and football knowledge will Ken Choo (CEO of a Car dealership and several companies related to Cardiff City) bring to the recruitment process, that Mehmet Dalman, resident of Monaco and Director of the same car dealership, Chairman of Cardiff City and Director of several Cardiff City companies, can't?
      They're both businessmen.

No to a player as I assume that would be a more experienced / long serving player who for me need to question their attitude (not that we have many long serving players) but yes to a fan as part of a wider recruitment process / panel

However this sums up the issue as to why this question was posed - we have no footballing nous on the board hence why we need to bring it in as an addition to our recruitment process - no faith in the current hierarchy

Every time we sack a manager we go from a standing start and no foresight as to what is going on and no contingency planning for the next appointment

It's beyond pathetic and simply fed up of it now - they are all tossers in the hierarchy with no self awareness as to their contribution to the shit show they preside over

As a fan of 46 years I don't want premiership football or champions league or silver generally - I just want players who play for the club the same way I would if I had the privilege and an ownership who gets us as a fan base and a community

It's not a lot to ask for in my very very very humble and misinformed opening nion

Why not have fans involved in all aspects of the club.

They can set bar prices, clean up after games, cut the pitch.

Whoever appointed Bulut needs an ejector seat.

The club admitted they “don’t have” any criteria when searching for managers. It’s been over a decade of Dalman and Choo now, how many decisions have they got right? Can probably count on one hand

Since they started appointing managers we've had one good season. The rest of them have been OK or awful.

To be fair to them, they obviously carry out background checks and research the types of coaches that they think will fit the bill, cut that down to a shortlist and then take a scientific approach to picking the best candidate based on experience, knowledge, connections and ability to do the job properly
Well that’s what you’d expect, however it looks more like they spread a load of CV’s across the desk and play

Meanwhile, they watch Brentford and Brighton and teams like that pass them and make ££££££ it's very odd?

What I fail to understand is why more clubs are not following their blueprint to success. One can only assume that it's not easily copyable, otherwise all teams would be doing it

Many are trying certain aspects, it will take time but clubs will copy, and it's proved successful.

                          Dont tell Leeds

                          Or Everton

                          Or Chelsea

                          Or Birmingham

Probably 90% of clubs would like to do better , find the magic formula/manager/players....

We are not on our own, I suspect Steve Borley has an inkling of what to look out for.

Clubs won't copy them because it takes 5/10 years to come to fruition and they won't have the patience

Oh god! Out of the frying pan and into the fire then Paul. I am pretty sure when we recruited Russell Slade, VT took on Glenn Roedder as a temporary consultant and he recommended Slade. Think it may have been the Leyton orient connection with him and Slade. But VT was swayed. I would go for the consultant option before Ken Choo.
