Ex City player has recently passed away aged 76. David, Terry’s brother, made one appearance for the City, in one of the legs of the 1965/66 League Cup semi final against West Ham. He ended up at Margate where he had a long, respected career and settled there. He only survived his wife for a short while, she, unfortunately died recently. I’m sure a few on here remember Dai, as he was known in Margate. RIP Bluebird.

Re: David Yorath
I would have thought that it’s pretty rare to have a player make as many appearances for one club in non League football.Originally posted by splott parker View PostEx City player has recently passed away aged 76. 6 0 tall Welsh schoolboy international who started his career with his hometown club Cardiff, joining them straight from school in 1963. Although Dai didnt make a league appearance, he did play for Cardiff in the Football League Cup aged 17 during 1965-66.
RIP

But of a legend down there. I imagine you remember him Paul, you seem the same as me, when we were younger we knew the League side, the Combination side, the Welsh league side, the tea lady, the BIF & BAF sellers, the turnstile operators etc etc :hehe:Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostI would have thought that it’s pretty rare to have a player make as many appearances for one club in non League football.

His daughter, who has done the reverse, that’s how I found out about his death, has settled in Cardiff, friends with my missus, although I’ve never met her, missus says she has a Cockney accent, I’d imagine Margate does sound similar. Of course, she’s Gabby Logan’s cousin and I think they do keep in touch.

Re: David Yorath
What an amazing biography, puts our club to shame. I remember him because the 1964-65 season the club included photos of all the players (8 at a time?) on the programme cover and included all the reserve players. I know I also watched him in his one League Cup appearance the following season but I must admit to not remembering how he played.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View Post

Re: David Yorath
I can remember a player called Yorath from looking in the programme, but I didnt go to the West Ham Semi Final and I’d not seen a reserve match at that time, so I doubt if I ever saw him play for City unless it was in something like a preseason friendly.Originally posted by splott parker View PostBut of a legend down there.
