  • FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 0 MILLWALL. Match thread

    Tuesday 1st October, ko 7:45pm
    Cardiff City Stadium
    Live on Sky Sports +

    Match Officials:

    Referee: Gavin Ward
    Assistant Referee: Lee Venamore
    Assistant Referee: Graham Kane
    Fourth Official: Sunny Singh Gill

    Match Facts:
    • Cardiff City have lost just one of their last 11 home league games against Millwall (W4 D6), a run which has seen the Bluebirds avoid conceding more than one goal in any of those matches.
    • Millwall have won four of the last five league meetings with Cardiff City (L1), scoring 2+ goals in three of those matches.
    • Cardiff City are the only side without a point at home in the 2024-25 Championship. Never before in the club’s history have the Bluebirds lost each of their opening four home league matches of a season.
    • Millwall have won two of their last three away league games at Welsh clubs (L1), as many as their previous 17 beforehand. They could win back-to-back such trips for the first time since February 2005.
    • Millwall’s Neil Harris has lost none of his four previous managerial matches against former side Cardiff (W1 D3), with this his first away trip to the Cardiff City Stadium in the Championship since a 0-0 draw with the Lions in October 2017.

Hagen Das, it's available on Sky Sports and the masochist in me will put it on to watch before knocking it off in favour of a re-run of Man vs Food.

It’s a good move by the club to have appointed the match referee as our new GK coach. Should get lots of decisions in our favour.

I have a proposal for this match:

I think Riza should write down the names of all of the fit first team squad members and the most promising under-21's. He should then split them into four categories: goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards. Next, he should put the names into a hat according to their individual categories and randomly draw out one goalkeeper, four defenders, four midfielders and two forwards. And that'll be the starting line-up for the Millwall game.

It's as good a scheme as any, and is just as likely to get a result as any other method of team selection.

I thought there's a clever octopus somewhere good at picking things?

At last. Someone else who favours 4-4-2 for our lot.

If he hasn't got a hat, he should pick the side who played Southampton in The Milk Cup. At least all those players gave 100% for 90++ minutes.

Funnily enough I don't see us losing this one.
