  • Encouraging recent changes and some negatives too

Colwill having his best game against Brizzle
    Robertson and Robinson getting minutes
    Alnwick
    Daland’s return to fitness
    Ghazi showing promise
    Ralls finding more stamina

    On the negative front
    Kanga
    Siopis
O’Dowda - will he ever be as good as many think he could be?

I'm not sure El Ghazi showed much promise.

    Ralls has always had stamina.

Other positives. Bagan , Goutas looks in better form.

El Ghazi showing promise? When? Name the minute of any match this might apply to? I’m gobsmacked.

I'm not sure about praising El Ghazi yet, either.

He has been very low on match fitness, so I'm reserving opinion.

Goutas was great against Millwall, but particularly memorable against Bristol City.

Bagan is a player I'm a big fan of and was brilliant against Bristol City.

Colwill is a player that we've lacked for years, but I agree with what Jason Perry has said, "stop hyping him up" (paraphrasing).

I’m amazed anyone believes El Ghazi looks promising. So far, he’s looked a shell of a player to me and a waste of what’s almost certainly a significant wage.

O’Dowda has never been anything more than an injury-prone, bang average Championship player. He’s highly unlikely to become anything else at 29 years of age.

The most encouraging recent change was Bulut being shown the door. The handful of attacking players in this squad who have genuine ability should get chances to establish themselves as a result.

Got to agree about El Ghazi, we’re getting towards mid October now and you would like to think that we would be seeing some signs of him recovering from his long spell out of the game by now - I have to say that he still looks like someone who owes his place in the starting line up to reputation.

Nonsense. His absence was one half of the reason our form slumped so badly last season.

                  Here's my list:

                  Positives:
Colwill is now carrying himself like he belongs here. He's always looked like he had the talent, but he seemed a little bit introverted at times in the past, like a 6th former on work experience in a busy office. I could be imagining it entirely but to me it seems as though he's carrying himself with a lot more confidence these days - squaring up to Darling at the Swansea game - I don't think the Colwill of a year or two ago would have done that and I think that attitude is having a benefit on his all round game.

Tanner and Bagan getting a run of games - on merit, and looking like championship level players. You don't have to go back very far on this message board at all to find people declaring them not good enough for this level, and yet here they are - doing a very good job at this level.

Robertson quickly finding his feet at this level and looks like he will be a really important player for us.

Robinson back in the fold, and in the first team and reminding us of his quality.

Goutas and Ng - 2 of our best players from last season rediscovering their mojo.

Ralls coming back has made a difference also.

Daland and Fish both look like good signings, that will hopefully do well for us - im a little nervous for Daland, as expectations seem impossibly high for him at the moment, but he could be a really good player on the little we've seen so far.

Surprisingly Rinomhota back in the fold and looking like a dependable squad member.

                  Alnwick back between the sticks.

We also have a number of younger players who still could come through this season - Reindorf, Ashford in particular, as well as King and Colwill getting a loan at a decent level.

And perhaps most positive of all, I'm actually looking forward to games, whereas under Bulut I was dreading them.

                  Negatives:

Probably the 4 highest profile signings over the summer - Kanga, Willock, El Ghazi and Chambers have all struggled to various degrees so far.

Injuries- the injury list has been ridiculous - really unlucky for the likes of Davies and Etete, who presumably would have had a good opportunity to get a run in the team.

Ramsey picking up more injuries and we weren't playing well with him in the side either - perhaps that will be better in a side that's playing well (that may be pushing it).

Meite should be in his peak years and is an experienced championship level player, but we aren't getting much out of him at the moment.

                  Same goes for ODowda.

We are still a long way from being a good side at this level

ODowda is a good player but he's got to be on the pitch to prove that . Sadly he's injury prone and that's not what we need . Shame .
