  • Flight delayed help - Urgent

Hi, I'm currently at Alicante airport and flight was due to leave at 7.20am this morning but now we've been informed that it's been delayed until 13.45hrs.

Never had a flight delayed before and was wondering if I could cancel this flight and get a full refund which would be handy as I could just pay a bit extra and get a 10.30am Ryanair flight this morning.

The number they have given me for easyjet customer services is not working until 9am this morning which would be 10am Spanish time. Too late then to book the new flight.

What's the score with claiming compensation too?
Is it anything after 3 hours you can claim compo from them?

Out on the lash last night and had little sleep so looking to get on this early flight.

People have beat me to it. Flights out are now gone up to 271 euros each from 211 euros half hour ago

I got compensation from BA once when the delay was their fault and not for fog as they claimed. they just rationalised their passenger load to maximise fill on later flights and they were taking off when I arrived at Heathrow only to find my original flight cancelled and we got put on a flight nearly 4 hours later.

there are EU rules for delays but you need to know if it's the airline's fault or factors beyond their control.

      good luck!

its not a huge rise given that it leaves in a matter of hours

Really depends on the problem to get money back, if it’s an engine fault you can get some back but most likely in the form of a voucher and not hard cash.

Unless you absolutely have to be home on time I would wait as annoying as it is

I may be wrong, but to me, this sounds like whole load of stress, for not a lot of gain. Put your feet up, mate. Relax, and have a beer. Get the 13.45 instead.

I've had a bunch of delayed and cancelled flights, and it's hit and miss whether you get anything for it.

I had a connecting flight cancelled in Amsterdam to Hong Kong and got put up in a nice Amsterdam hotel, a flight the next day and a €750 voucher towards another flight.

had the same scenario on American airlines and they didn't even respond to my complaint.

edited to add, it needs to be the airline's fault, not weather, strike action etc etc

upto 3 hours in the EU, you should get vouchers for food and drink ( go to the desk and ask, of course they will say you are not entitled, just quote EU 261

over 3 hours, its the EU261 claim that you can claim when you get home, ( and I think is upto abut £550 )

I feel like Tom Hanks in that movie. Been here since 4.15am. Flight has been put back until 4pm Spanish time now.
I'm not holding my breath though.
