Re: Good discussion on City.
I'm not sure I agree with their statement that "we never said they didn't have a talented squad".
I distinctly remember them saying our squad looked weak compared to someone like Coventry, who now they are mentioning as part of a winnable run of games.

Well, that was because the squad was poor - the difference between this team and a Bulut one is like night and day. We’d play quite well for twenty minutes or so here and there, but, taken as a whole over our first six matches, one point gained and one goal scored was about right.Originally posted by SLUDGE FACTORY View PostI distinctly remember LOADS of armchair experts on here saying how poor and weak the squad was just a few short weeks ago

Re: Good discussion on City.
For the latter part of last season and our 1st 6 games this season, I'd have said [think I did actually], that the squad was destined to plunge through the leagues. Turnbull was the slowest thing on 2 legs, etc, etc. You cannot fail to be impressed by a coach who manages to make half-decent footballers appear totally useless..

How can the same squad be poor one weak and strong a few weeks laterOriginally posted by the other bob wilson View PostWell, that was because the squad was poor - the difference between this team and a Bulut one is like night and day. It's a good first eleven, but maybe not strong enough for a sustained push up the table to the playoffs.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostWell, that was because the squad was poor - the difference between this team and a Bulut one is like night and day. Saying that I was very impressed with the way we performed against a strong difficult Norwich team who were unbeaten in six, with three key players out at the start.
It's still difficult to judge, but it looks like a half-decent squad with a very good first team when most are fit.
Riza has done a brilliant job to turn it around especially as out confidence was through the floor following Buluts terrible start.

Maybe a bit of positive psychology, different training , players being put in different positions etc
But the same squad , the same players

Re: Good discussion on City.
You can only judge what your eyes see. I always thought the players were capable of better but they looked awful. We were plummeting into League 1. Tonight may indicate if we will still have a struggle of a year, lower half, or fly high.

Re: Good discussion on City.
Whenever we discussed City under Bulut in work, the argument was always "We look like a good side on paper", and this has been proved right, with the appointment of Riza. Same players, but totally different outlook and results. Looking back, you start to wonder how Bulut lasted as long as he did.

Re: Good discussion on City.
Were we deservedly bottom of the league after six games? The team created a club record for our worst ever start to a season - we were awful and I didn’t see any “armchair experts” on here saying that we were anything else but awful around the time we were losing to Derby and Leeds. It needs to be said mind that the team had Horvarth, a ninety plus year old midfield and Meier and Kanga starting much of the time while Bulut was finding reasons not to include Colwill, Robertson and Robinson .Originally posted by SLUDGE FACTORY View PostThe players are the same

Well if you look back over the posts you will see that plenty of us were not as down on the side as some wereOriginally posted by the other bob wilson View PostWere we deservedly bottom of the league after six games?
