  • Wingers on the wrong wing

I have been banging on about playing wingers on their natural wing to get to the by-line and put in a decent cross without stopping the momentum of the move.

Well full credit to Ollie Tanner, who has obviously been practicing crosses with his right foot, because he now carries a proper threat to a defender by having the ability to go outside and put in a cross with his wrong foot, or can cut inside for a short pass in and around the penalty area, an in-swinging cross, or shot at goal.

The problem was today that even if a good ball was delivered there was no one in there to get on the end of it.

Exactly. We didn’t even play with a striker first half

Come on Riza give Reindorf a chance after the international break. We are desperate for a striker you know!

True, but O'Dowda, Colwill - and Tanner especially - seemed to think just getting a cross in was job done..

I still think Bagan should come in at left back and push O’Dowda further forward. We had 4 wingers on the pitch yesterday, and as Hot Shot Hamish and JR Hartley have said, no proper forward to cross it to. If Riza doesn’t think Meite or Kanga can do a job, and to be honest who does, especially Kanga, give Reindorf a chance, he can’t do any worse.

Inverted wingers are far more dangerous in the modern game, but they should still be capable of getting a cross in with their weaker foot and they shouldn't sign a player who can't do that.

Reindorf doesn’t strike me as that centre forward type but I haven’t seen much of him
