    Re: OT: Visiting Egypt

Did a small cruise down the Nile, it was wonderful , Luxor and Valley of the Kings were amazing to see and nothing like having tea and cakes cruising down the Nile as the sun sets after a day exploring. Me and Binman took our Dad some years ago and I think being just 3 blokes helped as a lot of the hawkers left us alone . Also went to Cairo for a few days , the Pyramids and the museum are also amazing to see but in the words of Binman “Cairo is one big shithole” . Great experience trying to cross the main roads in Cairo too, one of the scariest things I’ve ever done!

I would say it is a place in life that you would certainly want to visit once

They don’t want people digging up their past!

Cairo is the biggest shithole on the planet

Get in - do the Giza plateau and the museum and get out as quickly as you can and don’t do a Don Corleone and try to engage with the locals as they are just out to rip you off

And if you are on the bigger side you are going to get hassled as they think you have money but it’s handy if you want to push past the annoying Bstards

Nile cruise is wonderful and something I’d gladly do again

Egypt is fantastic - I wouldn’t wander around on my own though
          Too much hassle

Egyptian officials say 28 people from the vessel have been rescued after it sank on a five-day trip.

Egyptian authorities say 17 people are missing, including foreigners, and 28 have been rescued after a tourist boat sank in the Red Sea.

Two of those missing are British, the BBC understands. Finland has also confirmed one of their nationals is unaccounted for, as rescuers continue to search the area.

The boat with 31 tourists and 14 crew - who were all Egyptians - sent a distress signal at 05:30 (03:30 GMT), according to the governor of Red Sea province.

Authorities have not indicated the possible cause of the incident. But weather forecasters had warned against marine activities for Sunday and Monday.
