We took our chances they didn't. To finish top is terrific. This will give us a great chance of a play off place if we don't qualify automatically for the WC finals.

Wasn't expecting that at all. All I really cared about was not losing and not finishing 3rd. Winning the group is a massive result.
Still looked really uncomfortable at the back though. Felt sorry for Ben Davies as he often played as if we were 5 at the back. Cabango wasn't covering him whenever he went forward which left big gaps.

There will be 12 groups.

12 group winners only qualify directly for the WC.

12 runners up along with four best-ranked Nations League section winners go into a 16 team play offs.

There will be four sections in the play offs with each section consisting of four teams who will have a one off semi final followed by a one off final with the four section winners completing the 16 teams from Europe going to the WC.

I believe Wales are the 7th best ranked Nations League group winner but we will move up that ladder if Portugal, France, Germany, Spain, England or Norway win their WC groups. If three of those six teams win their group we get a play off place regardless where we finish in the group.

Tonight's outcome was massive on so many levels.
