Think I'm right in saying that both of our heaviest home defeats in. the noughties were suffered in the first three or four months of the decade, with the Preston match being our first home game of the new Millennium.

Yes, you'd be right.

I thought it was strange to note a few things - Dave Jones's side was responsible for our heaviest away defeats in the noughties and the 2010s, but also our biggest home and away wins of the 2010s. Sunderland away in 2013/14 was our heaviest ever away defeat in the Premier League. Back before the second world war, away wins of 3 or more goals were very scarce, yet heavy home wins were far more common.

Only 4 decades have we had a winning record : i.e. more wins than defeats - 1920s, 1940s and 2000 and 2010s

Will we look back on this time as a golden age?

Which was your least miserable and least negative decade?

For me the most positive and happiest I were the 80s life was great, a lot happened, the football was shyte but the drinking and entertainment on the terraces and outside was class.

The 00's were good fun at the actual football, Dave Jones gave us some good days and a big lift.

Getting back to the second tier was great and hold most of my memories. The two promotion seasons in the 2010s were amazing, unlike the seasons spent in the PL. It's sad that Jones never got the side promoted and he and Ridsdale were huge in getting us to become a big club again at this level.

:thumbup: Promotions, Cup Finals we've had some good times overall it hasn't all been bad, it's a bit gutting DJ didn't quite get us over the line, close but no cigar.

I’ve always liked to believe that if Jones had got us up when we were playing at that decrepid shithole across the road, it may have worked in our favour against the Premier League fancy dans. Would have obviously been sold out every game and the intimidating atmosphere that some seem to think happened every other week, would have actually happened every other week.
