Re: Gary Speed
Still remember that Sunday vividly.
I was up close to Toledo in Ohio getting ready for an 8 hour drive back after Thanksgiving.
It broke my heart and I remember driving back in a daze.
Never been as sad as this regarding somebody I never knew, passing away.
What a man and what a legacy he left!!
RIP Speedo!

Re: Gary Speed
I think this photo was taken in 2004 when Gary Speed was in his mid-30's.
A decade or so earlier I used to look after the VIP Room at the former Arms Park for the FAW on international nights. Often, players would find their way there after the game (only place they could get a free drink!) including Gary Speed. He'd have been mid-20's in his prime; I've never forgotten the first time I got close the guy, couldn't take my eyes off him - he was an absolute film star, beautiful rather than handsome.
I think the link will only take you to 'Alamy images website' rather than the one photo I hoped to copy - first picture in the red shirt of Wales.

I remember seeing him play for Leeds in that season they pipped Man Utd to the championship.Originally posted by Cowbridge Blue View PostI think this photo was taken in 2004 when Gary Speed was in his mid-30's.

Long flowing looks, a good looking bloke indeed.
Seemed like he had everything that he could possibly want.
It just goes to show what a horrific ailment ones mental health problems can be.
I sought treatment about a year after he died.
It’s the one of the best decisions I ever made having suffered in relative silence for 21 years prior to that.
Yet another part of his legacy and maybe the most important was how his passing made mental health problems less stigmatized than they once were.
Everything about him was absolute class.
I’d like to think somehow he has seen or felt the results from a project that he was instrumental in getting off the ground along with others.

I’ve been to funerals where it’s hit me less.
