  • Riza's post Q.P.R. comments

    Cardiff caretaker Omer Riza:

"On this game we wouldn't have scored until the cows come home, I think the saying is.

"We went in (at half-time) 1-0 down, which was probably harsh. The belief was there to win the game, but it wouldn't come and we come away highly frustrated.

"We knew we could have gone into 17th place and four points above it (relegation zone) but we have failed. We will keep on working and try to win games.

“QPR put their bodies on the line, and they blocked and cleared. Were our balls decisive enough? Did we put balls into areas where we can make it harder for them? The second half we did a little bit more, but I can’t put my finger on it other than the fact that we’ve come off a little bit of our quality in possession.

"The boys who have the ability to make a real difference have been lacking a bit in those areas; final pass being nicked, final touch, whether to turn or drive at somebody. They are things that we can take back to the training ground and work on, but the players have got to step up in respect of focus and delivery of what they need to do.”

    QPR's Marti Cifuentes:

"It was an important win for the team and the club, and especially for the players who have been working hard.

"The whole group have been protective and supportive to him (Celar).

"It's very important he scores and we are happy for him and hopefully this will increase his confidence.

"It is one of the reasons why he is here. He has shown today and in the past that he is an excellent finisher, and what we need to do as a team is provide him with more chances.

"I'm glad he kept working. He took this step forward and it will help him."

"The challenge we have is to be more mature as a team and compete game after game after game with higher average levels.

"We need to understand that it is a demanding league and we have to take many more steps forward."

The video on the club website is well worth a look. It's lasts nearly twenty minutes but the questions asked and the answers given get more and more interesting as it goes on - they're much more honest than what is customary in such gatherings.

You're right, that's not one of those stock answer, run of the mill press conferences.

He has made a fair assessment of last nights game.
As the manager I wanted him to either be better prepared tactically for the game so we could break down the opposition and defend our own goal better, or able to switch the play in a way that would have had us penetrating their defense and ultimately scoring goals, or perhaps bringing a sub on that wasn't Miete who might just bring that spark we were lacking ...

If this post is in any way on line abuse, I have my sword ready to fall upon when notified by the online abuse police...

What I don't understand about last night is

Why did we take so long to make any changes
Why did we make three singular changes thus limiting overall changes we could make
Why bring on meite when we know what he can do which isn't much and what he cant do when he had reindorf on the bench who none of us including QPR know what he can do

For what it's worth and that is not a lot but i'm not convinced by riza as our manager but feel he is being treated terribly by the current hierarchy

And lastly in my opinion we are run by cowards - quick enough to laud it up when it's going well and then disappear when it's tough going and the news not so good - they are pathetic

Thanks, Paul. I wouldn't have bothered searching that out if you hadn't mentioned it, but it was very interesting. It underlines once more what a ridiculous mess this club is in.

Yes, but he wasn't being rude.
It's hard to disagree with his assessment of the game.
On a side note, I wish they had a microphone to pass around the questioners

The hierarchy coming under increased pressure to actually say something - I think this is a good read and it’s interesting to read the media’s reaction to Riza’s post game comments.

Cardiff City fans are growing increasingly angry over the lack of transparency and information regarding the managerial post and the plan for the future

I think failing to play turnbull instead of ralls who isn't fit and bringing on Meite will be his nemesis

                          Shame

It was one of those games where one goes in and we wipe the floor with them. Passing and creating is a problem to say nothing of the finishing. Robinson is held up as our main striker but even he is often found wanting.

Turnbull has been crap for weeks, and we've been crap for weeks. Turnbull and Ralls are a lot more similar than people think and Ralls delivers better set pieces
