  • December 9th Fan Advisory Board Meeting Minutes

I see that the minutes from the meeting that dealt with fall out from Open Letter were published on the Club Website yesterday.

Interesting read. Steve Borley's assertion at the bottom of page 5 gives some insight into Tan's thinking on the process. My paraphrasing would be you just got me to spend shedloads on a Bulut extension only having to sack him and pay his contract. If you think I'm going to get caught twice by your judgement yo are having a laugh so I will stick with the low cost option thanks very much!

SB The owner gets very frustrated employing a manager on a substantial wage, probably as high as the top championship clubs and then parts company with them whilst still having to pay up their contract so there would be a reluctance to replace the high earner the very next day on a similar type of package and then possibly get rid of them again.

I guess the first question that should be asked was why after our appalling end of season performance's, was Built offered an extension in the first place?

Tan can moan all he likes but ultimately it’s his decision and his decision alone to appoint the right person for the job

If it’s not the right person it’s on him

They could adopt the novel approach of employing the right manager in the first place.

So don't take the advice time after time of people who have proved repeatedly they're crap at running a football club Vincent.

Also, that's very much a false economy if you don't spend money on a decent manager, very few people turn up to watch your team and they get relegated.

Having now read the minutes, I would question the assertion that we have a successful Academy. I suppose if it could be called successful, it would be because we ve produced a few players lately that much richer clubs than us can sign on the cheap, but wasn’t the object of the exercise to produce first team players that could be sold for the sort of fee that would, hopefully, enable us to be a competitive top half Championship team?

Despite the departure of the likes of Crew, Biancheri and Benjamin, we’ve got the highest ever number of under 18 and under 21 players who can be called legitimate first team candidates in the twenty one years of the Academy’s existence in my opinion. However, the last dozen or so years (Vincent Tans time at Cardiff) have seen almost no first team players emerge from there. Could a reason for that be that an owner who tells us that he wants to see young home produced players in the team is too quick to get shot of managers if results take a turn for the worse? Managers are going to be reluctant to use younger players if it means it could cost them their job.

Potentially we’ve got a successful Academy, but it’s not there yet - that comes when we start producing the sort of player the Academy was meant to provide and we don’t measure success by players we produced back in the noughties or ones now at clubs like Manchester United and Wolves who they paid peanuts for.

That's the stand out comment in the minutes. It doesn't look as if an experienced manager is going to come in, even if Riza continues to mess up.
Really don't know what to say. Every club ends up sacking it's manager and having to pay up his contract. Something that Tan has to take on the chin.
I am truly in despair for the season. Eric reckoned we have 70% chance of going down. I think it's 100%.

If Tan wants a manager on the cheap he'll get what he deserves.

We keep on being told that all of the important decisions at the club are taken by one man, so who should we blame when a manager gets sacked less than three months after he signed a new contract?

And there we have it - effectively a confession from Borley that Tan is now taking the cheapest available option with Riza because he mistakenly gave Bulut a lucrative contract and is now having to pay him off.

Congratulations to everyone at the club who was involved in awarding Bulut a two-year contract on significant wages despite the fact that almost all of the key stats and indicators very clearly signalled that our Turkish friend was extremely fortunate to guide the team to a mid-table finish in 2023/24.

Congratulations also to all the fans who couldn't see his blatantly obvious failings and were instead enthusiastically singing 'Erol Bulut we want you to stay.'

                  What an utter farce.

Bingo. Every single failure at Cardiff City boils down to one man.

Page 5 is a bleak read. It is like SB and co are scared of VT with the way they talk about him.

Unfortunately I am in Australia on the 18th of January so can't make the protest but I hope it is loud and proud and gets media coverage all over to embarrass the narcissistic owner in charge. I would take the game being abandoned and Swansea getting the 3 points if it came to it. Worst owner we have ever had and I include SH in that.

                        Is there actually a protest.?

                        I'm not on Facebook.

                        Who is organising it?

This is the largest Cardiff City messageboard you'd have thought details would be on here by whoever was organising it.

Yes there is a Facebook group called tan out that has a few thousand members. It's being organised on there. It's not a secret

                          AA is organising it.

Again what is the point in these meetings? I don't criticise the fans questions at all. But they may as well speak to the steward who asks people to sit down in the ninian as steve borley as they seem to have equal influence at the club.

The club is a basket case with a basket case owner. Nothing will change till he sells the club.
