Roko Simic's stats for Kortrijk in the Belgian league:

      1 (+3) appearances, 0 goals.

He was substituted on 56 minutes in the one game he did start. His team were 2-0 down at the time.

Very obvious to make a "he'll fit right in" joke here but to be fair Callum Robinson is doing his bit

Such an odd transfer but he's possibly all we will be bringing in.

Maybe he was as confused as anyone about the whole thing.

Could he do worse than Kanga?

On the other hand, he started breaking into the RB Salzburg side as a teenager, and last year scored 6 goals and 2 assists from 1866 minutes across league and champions League , not prolific, and I've no idea where the Austrian league stacks up against Belgium or the Championship, but I'm pretty sure that Salzburg are a much stronger side than we are.
The Kortrijk manager clearly didn't fancy him - that doesn't necessarily mean he's not going to be good for us

Being worse than Kanga would be very hard indeed. I did laugh ysterday when I was reading Kanga's wiki and it said stiker/winger! He would have to be the least mobile winger of all time. :hehe:

Kanga's stats in the same league last season:

                36 appearances, 12 goals.

Simic has only played 143 minutes before his injury - less than 2 games. mostly as substitute in games that were effectively over already.
it's not sensible to make any comparison with someone who has played 36 games

                    Sincere apologies.

Since October 2023 Simic has scored just one goal, against Hartberg in the Austrian league. He's 21. He's been injured a bit. His loan deal to Kortrijk was a waste of time. He could be anything. Bring him here. What's the worst that could happen?

                      Re: Simic

Starting to think that agents have cottoned onto us/Tan as a good way to offload their once promising youngish players for amounts that nobody else would pay - Turnbull, Simic, Daland, Fish, Tsunoda (maybe unfair in the last two cases as we haven't seen them play but if Fish couldn't get a game ahead of Chambers at CB why was he signed).

It's happened a few too many times too often to be unlucky at this point. And the City/Kortrijk link means he has two budgets to play with, not just one.

If we signed a striker for 2.5m that couldn't get a sniff in Belgium, where Isaak Davies was POTS and Sheyi Ojo made 29 appearances, we'd be questioning it, no doubt about it.

It is a truly bizarre signing, he went out on loan as the club didn't think he was ready and clearly Kortrijk thought he was crap as well. Honestly, this summer window is the worst in the club's history at present.

You're all forgetting that we beat Sunderland to his signature in the summer. Sunderland had done their homework and he was their number one pick. He must be a player, although admit it's been weird what's happened to him in Belgium.

Like AC Milan were interested in Turnbull the summer we signed him right?
