Re: Joel Colwill
Atleast the club are finding him nice locations to live in, that's something us fans can take some comfort from.Originally posted by Des Parrot View PostI understand why but I’m not sure it’s the right move. He was playing well at Cheltenham, fitted into the system and was appreciated. He’s got to go to Exeter, do it all again and break into their team, which is a tough ask. He’s got to be in our squad next season.

Re: Joel Colwill
Totally agree mate, I'm quite surprised. I don't imagine the standard is that much greater at Exeter. I didn't know whether it was something to do with wages and that Exeter would pay a higher % but I doubt he's going to be on big money.Originally posted by Des Parrot View PostI understand why but I’m not sure it’s the right move. Re: Joel Colwill
The standard is definitely higher in League One than League Two - so a move to Exeter will test him more. I can see the argument about having to break into a new side and establish himself again with a new manager - but that is surely partly the point? This season looks like a pretty well managed two-stage crash course for Joel Colwill so he is ready to take on the Championship in 2025-6.Originally posted by GL1Blue View PostTotally agree mate, I'm quite surprised. Re: Joel Colwill
League One to League Two is night and day. Look at the clubs, Charlton, Bolton, Birmingham, Huddersfield, Reading, Barnsley, Wigan and Blackpool have all been Premier League clubs. It won't be a money thing, it'll be to push him to the next level so he can make the step up to us next season. I'm quite confident he'll be in our squad next season.Originally posted by GL1Blue View PostTotally agree mate, I'm quite surprised. I don't imagine the standard is that much greater at Exeter. Re: Joel Colwill
My issue with Cheltenham was he was playing at 10, I think he will end up playing deeper for us, hopefully Exeter player him a bit deeper to help him work on his defensive game.Originally posted by Des Parrot View PostI understand why but I’m not sure it’s the right move. Re: Joel Colwill
yes a much better managed loan than we have typically done in the past. it's up to him now to take the opportunityOriginally posted by jon1959 View PostThe standard is definitely higher in League One than League Two - so a move to Exeter will test him more. He's done well. Nice to see one of our young professionals having a successful loan spell, i can't really remember the last time it happened.Originally posted by Rjk View Postyes a much better managed loan than we have typically done in the past. it's up to him now to take the opportunity

Eli King was getting rave reviews at Morecambe and Ross County but a move to the next level with Stevenage hasn’t worked out for him.Originally posted by Tuerto View PostHe's done well. Re: Joel Colwill
He’s got to go there and impress the manager, so in that respect it will give him a good grounding for when he returns to us, as typically we 2-3 different managers a seasonOriginally posted by Des Parrot View PostI understand why but I’m not sure it’s the right move.
