Lost their cross border derby v Shrewsbury, 2-1. Shrewsbury 34 points behind them prior to kick off. Wry grins on the faces of other fans in League One, no doubt, I’d imagine Wrexham aren’t the most popular.

Re: Wrexham
Remember when Hammam was splashing the cash at the same level, Thorne, Kavanagh, Gabbidon, Campbell etc. Don’t think it enhanced our reputation among our contemporaries. That splashing of cash turned out well!!!Originally posted by William Treseder View PostJealousy is a terrible thing.

Re: Wrexham
Good luck to Wrexham I say. When did we start caring what fans of other clubs think about us, or Wrexham come to that matter.Originally posted by splott parker View PostRemember when Hammam was splashing the cash at the same level, Thorne, Kavanagh, Gabbidon, Campbell etc. Don’t think it enhanced our reputation among our contemporaries. Any clubs fanbase would welcome a massive cash injection. Like I said, jealousy is all consuming.😂

It did. We got promoted, stayed up and built a new stadium.Originally posted by splott parker View PostRemember when Hammam was splashing the cash at the same level, Thorne, Kavanagh, Gabbidon, Campbell etc. Don’t think it enhanced our reputation among our contemporaries. Re: Wrexham
Of course any club would welcome it but jealousy is a big part of football, or any sport really. I think most fans cast their eyes at clubs who seem to be better managed, more successful etc with a ‘Why the f*ck can’t it be us?’ It’s a different type of the obsessive, mind altering, evil jealousy but the envy of other clubs does exist and it’s always been that way.Originally posted by William Treseder View PostGood luck to Wrexham I say. Re: Wrexham
I have to hold my hands up here.
For years I have wanted every Welsh club operating in the English FA pyramid to do well. I’d love to see us all in the Premier League and competing in boisterous ‘Welsh derby’ matches.
Yet…for some reason that possibly has its origins in jealousy….I am hating the media love for Wrexham
I really enjoyed Shrewsbury getting one over them last night.
I feel better for getting that out in the open.

Re: Wrexham
My memory is not too good when it comes down to it, so maybe there is someone who can remember if this actually happened?
I seem to remember we played Wrexham in a fixture early on in a season (late 70’s / early 80’s), where we had a new striker playing for us.
We may had been relegated the previous season, and both us and Wrexham were seen as possible promotion candidates.
I can’t remember the result, but I think we may have lost, as I am pretty sure that our new striker signed for Wrexham soon after that game.

Re: Wrexham
Jealousy and envy are two entirely different emotional phenomena but in the case of football status I think they weirdly converge.Originally posted by splott parker View PostOf course any club would welcome it but jealousy is a big part of football, or any sport really. Wow.You must have better things to do. The club have been in the shite for years and years and they get a bit of success.Originally posted by Crisp White Lines View PostI have to hold my hands up here.

Re: Wrexham
I’m behind the times because I treat Wrexham as still being some way below us when, clearly, it’s not true. I’ve no strong feelings either way about them, but that was a shocking result on Thursday and away form does seem to be a problem with them - Birmingham and Wycombe look stronger to me, although losing their manager may hit the latter hard.
