  • Kit question

I didn’t notice until in to the second half on Saturday but both sides were wearing white shorts. I thought this was a clash and wasn’t allowed?

    Re: Kit question

Just shirts & socks is my understanding.

As a side comment, referees & goalkeepers clashing most matches! Point in case Chelsea v Wolves at the moment.

Thanks Des. Can’t remember seeing a clash of shorts previously. I suppose the ref doesn’t get close to a keeper during open play.

I noticed that aswell, and not for the first time this season. The rules over clashing shorts definitely seem to be more relaxed this season.

I'm pretty certain it used to be the case in the premier League that shorts had to be different too, but I guess not now?

Arsenal v Spurs last week and Spurs played in light blue, ridiculous.
Teams should always play in their own colours in a derby game, jmo

In their own colours unless forced to change by a colour clash in any game. Millwall, Portsmouth, Blackburn. Maybe West Brom, Wednesday & QPR. 6 games in the season. No need for a 3rd kit at all.

I’ve seen a lad asked to leave the pitch in a non-league game as his undershirt didn’t match his match shirt.

I think only the ref should decide if a change strip is necessary and then only in the event of a colour clash. That would stop clubs changing strips just for the sake of it.
