Under Erol Bulut: 21 in 52 league games (0.40 a game)

Under Omer Riza: 8 in 22 league games (0.36 per game)

Following on from my goals from open play post last night, where we've scored almost double the amount of goals from open play under our current manager, I thought I'd look at the same stats from set pieces. There are occasional comments suggesting we don't score enough from set pieces anymore. It looks like that's not the case and the rates are very similar. If we'd scored 1 more goal from set pieces under Riza, we'd have a higher rate than we did under Bulut, so the 0.04 difference means bugger all.

at the start of this season we were looking terrible at set pieces, at either end of the pitch.
Were definitely looking more threatening from them in recent games

I think that just coincides with us looking threatening full stop. Given our dismal attacking options, we at least seem to have some attacking threat for the first time in well over a season.

I can remember being at the Norwich home game, which was after we had thumped Plymouth and Portsmouth, so we were attacking better by then and our set pieces were just awful almost all game

I think that just coincides with us looking threatening full stop. Given our dismal attacking options, we at least seem to have some attacking threat for the first time in well over a season.

Here's one for you, for every player at Cardiff over the course of this season, do you have the data to calculate:

Minutes played per goal scored by us, and
Minutes played per goal conceded by us

I'll bet there were players starting last night that would be at the wrong end of both of those measures.

I think there has been a recent upturn, especially winning the second ball, which is probably where the goals have been coming from.

Aye and late goals show fight, they did well yesterday and grafted till the end after a terrible start.
