How did I miss this thread?
I always carry a cotton handkerchief, and I can't understand why no-one else does any more. Good ones are hard to find these days, so I look out for vintage stuff, still in their boxes, for sale on places like Ebay. They've got to have a good hem on them, though, not those stringy excuses that Marks and John Lewis sell these days.

(i.e. blowing your nose directly into your hand whilst in the shower, then washing it off your hand?)

Two pieces of good kitchen towel, folded into one and then into quarters.

Very handy all round, including any spills or bogs with no loo roll etc.
