    Re: Cancer

@Wash DC Blue, sorry to hear about your brother-in-law.

The 15-35 rates are up in Wales post-covid according to someone from a local cancer charity.

      Re: Cancer

Sorry to hear of your problems.
Healthcare in the US seems really fecked up for such a rich country.
I survived a stroke and prostate cancer thanks to our NHS.

And? Whats your point? Is it helpful/relevant to the OP?

His BIL has good lifestyle habits and is fit and healthy for his age. We seem to be facing a rise in cancer, heart issues and other serious conditions across all ages, which is a worrying trend for everybody.

My Wife is down in Tampa right now as her Brother (who is one of the loveliest people that I have ever met) got diagnosed with lung cancer around Christmas after going in to ER and finding fluid on his lungs.
It’s metastasized to his bones and he was rushed into hospital last week as there is fluid around his heart sack.

My Wife flew down there on Friday and is now partially responsible for the next course of action.
There is no curing him but there is palliative care which could elongate his life.
This could come at a cost of $13000 per month depending on what the insurance people say.

In the meantime the Cardiac and Cancer Centres aren’t in-sync.
I think that they all want as much money as they can get, while the pharmaceutical industry are raking in it in despite him paying for health insurance all of his life through his parents first and then on his own once he started to work.

He’s 55/56 non smoker and seemed to be the healthiest I’ve ever known him, playing tennis 3 times a week and at a good weight.

The NHS is pulled harder than Stretch Armstrong and while I know it has many many issues…Velindre and The Royal Gwent did beyond a great job for my Mother before she passed nearly 9 years ago.

I honestly wonder if Cancer is too profitable to find a cure.

I’d also like to give props to the NHS regardless of how stretched and maybe inefficient it is.
At least the hospitals aren’t in it for profit.
Sorry to hear about your brother-in-laws battle with cancer which is an awful disease. I have always been confused by the American system for healthcare. How does it work and would the insurance cover the palative care?

                    Honestly Mate, I haven’t got a clue.
My Mrs along with their Mother and his GF has been trying to figure this out all week.
Their main goal is getting him on these drugs that can hopefully give him extra time.

I’ll let you know what they say about the palliative care.

                        Re: Cancer

So Geoff isn’t going to get any treatment.
He had a stroke and brain clot a week last Monday that really ****ed him as well as a Cardiac Arrest after fluid squeezed his heart.

He has been in a sedated sleep most of the time since then, responsive to his Mother and his Sister via hand squeezes.
He has tapped his hands somewhat to LCD Soundsystem.

My Mrs flew back Saturday evening, got here just after the Chisora fight.
She recharged her batteries and flew back to Tampa this afternoon.
Her Mother and Stepp Father are flying in from Ohio tomorrow to join her and he is being moved to a hospice tomorrow (Friday).

He’s done and the machine will be switched off on Monday.

He never really caught on to our football, Ohio State, The Redskins, The Washington National’s and Capitals were his things…but he always asked me about The Bluebirds.

                        God Bless Geoff.
