Sounds more like bad planning by underestimating how long features would take to implement.
It doesn't really have any competition and it's probably a bit of a cash cow so won't be going anywhere -

They've messed up pretty badly.
If they'd done the norm for FM25- barely any changes under the bonnet but superficial tweaks - they could have sold it as normal while they got the new match engine ready. They made announcements that they couldn't keep up with and it's a costly error. Not just in revenue but reputation too.Comment

It'll recover I'm sure. Nothing else comes close. The issue I guess is funding as there's a whole years worth of sales gone I assume. Perhaps they can do an update to the latest one, I don't know?
