Just reading that the FAW are exploring going down the route of capping players who qualify on th basis of residency - i.e. players who have lived in Wales for 5 years but wouldn't otherwise qualify.
Up until now I thought there was a "gentleman's agreement" between the home nations not to exploit this.
I tihnk it would be a very bad idea - yes we might be able to cap someone like Matt Grimes, or Joe Ralls, but neither of those significantly improve us (although both would have had plenty of caps if they were welsh for sure).
Our strength has never been in having a greter depth of this kind of average player, but instead the handful of real quality we've had - imaigine if we'd lost a Bale to this ruling?
I can't think of anyone at any of the welsh clubs that would be a guaranteed starter if they were capped by this process
