  • Omer Riza post Luton comments

“Disappointed is an understatement.” said Riza. “We’re putting a lot of energy into the games, we’re getting ourselves in good positions at times, but the same mistakes keep happening over and over. There are nine games left and we need to correct it.

“I can’t knock the effort or the commitment from the players, but the things that are costing us points are the same mistakes being repeated. All the games we haven’t won or taken points from is because of these reasons.

"Now, this is a fight. Now we’ll see who will step up and fight for this club. It looks like this is fight or flight.

“We’re in a real tough spot at the moment but it’s my job to deal with it. We’ve lost two games against two teams who are well up there in the league that we should have potentially taken some points from, but like I’ve said, we can’t talk about it as we haven’t done that. We’ve lost to a team tonight in and around us which really was our own undoing, so I’m really disappointed.”

“We’ve got nine games left, so we’ve got to fight for every game, every minute, every blade of grass and try and get results. We go back in and we prepare for Blackburn next to correct it.

"We’ll reassess everything, we’ll assess the squad, who is available or who is not, and I will be making the necessary changes to the squad to get the most out of it to get the result, and select the boys to go out on the pitch that want to fight.”

    Luton's Matt Bloomfield:

"We've been talking for a little while about the cluster of clubs above us we have to target.

"Cardiff are one of those and this is about keeping our feet on the floor because it's just one result.

"But it's given us a nice lift, a real confidence boost. Much has been made of the away form, but that's now out of the way so we can concentrate on the job in hand."

Dear Omar, the mistakes start with you. Playing Colwill wide meant we played the first half with 10 men. Playing a long ball is not illegal, why pick Alves and then not give him the ball!

Mentioned they back in now on Thursday.
            Thursday FFS!!!!!!

They need to be back in tomorrow - they do not leave the Cardiff area to go home until Saturdays game is done.
No one fecks off to Dubai for the international break either - it’s always a bad look and not deserved.
This is now a crisis situation, it’s serious and relegation is now staring us in the face.

9 games left - call it 7 as I we have to discount Sheff utd and WBA in the top 5 with our record.

They will probably be at Cheltenham tomorrow.

They just played three games in eight days and got zero points. Is a day off going to make things worse?

We are done anyway, moreover Luton and Derby have seen the light now and will probably survive…

It sends out a terrible signal though after a performance like last night's. They don't have to come in for more training. If it was down to me, I'd have them in for a brainstorming session which would involve watching the game in full twice and plenty of full and frank discussion about the appetite of the squad for the hard work and ugly stuff that is needed to get us above the bottom three come May.

Riza should be willing to take criticism during this session as well, because, although his post match comments show that he understands some of the tings that are needed from his players, it seems to me that his recent selections, tactics and substitutions betray a sense of drift, of running out of ideas.

My fear with this lot however is that you could have what you thought was a really good session where it feels like you've got through to the players and made some progress, but then, come Saturday, we'll see more cheap goals conceded and the same lack of character on show as last night.

And those are probably the hardest things to sort out short term without changes in personnel

                          Really?

Omer, you haven't looked capable of doing that since your arrival.

You still don't know the best team formation. You have chopped and changed the starting lineup, and made fear-/panic-based substitutions.

We have no faith in your choices....and I'm guessing the players are feeling likewise.

Nobody has bothered to ask him why the one player in our team who has actually looked capable of attacking with pace all season can't get on the pitch then? In a team absolutely crying out for pace and a little bit of inventiveness?

Bringing on Meite last night was a genuinely bizarre move. I think even Riza's biggest fans would have to admit that.
