Re: Are QPR on the beach?
Not a comment on QPR specifically but every single season pundits talk about teams being on the beach and having nothing to play for etc....Originally posted by bobh View PostI don't think any team is "on the beach"
with 6 games still to play.
I just dont think results year after year bare that out. Having nothing to play for can mean teams play with less fear and are far more dangerous. Playing teams at the top or bottom they can become scared of their own shadows when so much pressure.

QPR almost certainly can't go down and they definitely can't go up. When push comes to shove, some of their players won't dig deep as there's nothing riding on it for them.Originally posted by bobh View PostI don't think any team is "on the beach"

Except bonuses, starting places, contracts, potential moves etc.Originally posted by Pedro de la Rosa View PostQPR almost certainly can't go down and they definitely can't go up. When push comes to shove, some of their players won't dig deep as there's nothing riding on it for them.

100% this. I could see it maybe 30 years ago when sides changed relatively little year to year, less money in the game, players were fixtures at a club for 10+ years.Originally posted by NYCBlue View PostExcept bonuses, starting places, contracts, potential moves etc.
Now even if the team isn’t playing for anything I’m sure pretty much every player out there is playing for something on an individual level.
And as noted, we are crap and play down to the level of pretty much every team we play anyway.
